You can gift up to £3,000 in any tax year to any person using the IHT Annual Gift Exemption. This gift will be immediately exempt from IHT. If you do not use this exemption in one tax year it can be carried forward to the next year, meaning you could gift up £6,000 in any one tax year. These exemption has to be used in your lifetime and cannot be used once you have died. There are further exemptions available dependent on your circumstances and who you are gifting to and when.
